PHOTOS: Ambode Receives Hand-Over Notes From Fashola

As the inauguration hour for elected public office holders draws nearer, outgoing Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has handed over notes of office to the governor-elect, Akinwunmi Ambode. Ambode used his personal twitter handle ( @AkinwunmiAmbode ) to share photos of the handing over of notes presentation. Fashola handed over notes to Ambode at the state’s governor office secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja. Ambode on Tuesday, unveiled his official portrait. During the unveiling ceremony, he disclosed that come May 29, he would like to be addressed as ‘Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the governor of Lagos state’. Meanwhile, Nigerians have shown appreciation to Fashola for eight years of selfless service.

Yusuf, the son of the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has appeared for the first time to the public, as he arrived in the country from the United Kingdom together with his father in the early hours of today, May 28. Check Out Jonathan's New Home In Otuoke

As Muhammadu Buhari is being sworn in as Nigeria’s new president, here are photos of president Goodluck Jonathan’s Otuoke home. Although it’s been reportedly said that the Nigeria’s First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan is unhappy about the decision of the outgoing president to resettle at his country home in Otuoke, Bayelsa state, after he hands over, work has been ongoing in the Otuoke home to meet up with the arrival of Jonathan. Labourers were seen putting finishing touches to five buildings at Mr. Jonathan’s residence while two roadblocks, mounted by the operatives of Battalion 5 of the Joint Task Force Operation Pulo Shield, were situated on either side of the spacious compound. Also, movements were restricted around the premises and no one has been allowed to take photographs of the buildings. UEFA calls for FIFA election to be postponed

  UEFA President, Michel Platini UEFA has called for Friday’s FIFA presidential election to be postponed amid FBI allegations of bribery and corruption. European football’s governing body has said that it will also consider boycotting this week’s FIFA congress following the arrests of soccer officials in Zurich, Sky Sports reports. UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino says the corruption investigations into FIFA “tarnish the image of football as a whole” and said European football associations will debate on Thursday whether to boycott the Zurich congress. Infantino said the executive committee of European football’s ruling body, which met on Wednesday, wants “a change to the leadership” of FIFA, with the congress to be postponed and new elections held within six months. Nigerian Catholic bishops have advised the women impregnated by Boko Haram insurgents not to abort the pregnancies. The issue has caused serious clashes in Nigerian society. Many insisted that the pregnancies should be aborted, saying that the unwanted children of terrorists “will bring no joy to this world”. According to The Punch, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria promised assistance to the women in the children’s upbringing after the delivery. Nigeria Lost $32 Billion Due to Fuel Subsidy Fraud – Saraki

Senator Bukola Saraki says fake fuel subsidy operators are responsible for one of the most massive frauds in Nigeria. Inappropriate fuel subsidy management annually results in drainage of $2 billion from the treasury. Mr. Saraki told he knows the simple way to resolve that problem. Senator Bukola Saraki says treasury drained of colossal sums due to fake subsidy operators. In Mr. Saraki’s opinion, the incoming Muhammadu Buhari’s government should urgently remove the fuel subsidies and return to normal deregulated business in fuel market. NANS Issues Warning To Jacob Zuma

Ahead of the inauguration of the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, May 29, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a warning to the South African president, Jacob Zuma, to stay away from the inauguration ceremony, Nigerian Eye reports. In a statement distributed to various media houses and signed by the NANS president, Tijani Usman, the body advised Zuma not to bother coming to the ceremony. They said his visit would be an insult to the people of Nigeria over his poor handling of the xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa, including Nigerians. Airport Workers Shut Down FAAN Headquarters

Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) have barricaded the the headquarters of the agency in Lagos shutting out other users of the building. According to an eye-witness who pleaded anonymity told Premium Times that the activities at the FAAN headquarters have been grounded by angry protesting workers. He said the protesters were heading towards the international wing of the airport, and their plan seems to have coincided with the visit of the Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka who is set to attend a function there. “The minister of Aviation just arrived at the international wing of the airport for a function and the protesters are heading their as I speak now,” the witness said.
