A 33- year- old woman Olawunmi Oyebode has been arrested and remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri for assault . This happened one week to her wedding in Lagos State , western Nigeria . Her journey to prison started after she was arraigned before a Magistrates ’ Court sitting in Isolo for the alleged offence. Oyebode who had concluded plan to contracther wedding allegedly slapped her neighbour, Anthony Onyeka for undisclosed reason . The incident happened at 51, Ijikoyejo street , Ijeshatedo, Lagos where they reside . After the alleged assault, Onyeka went to Ijeshatedo police division and reported Oyebode and she was arrested and taken to the station. P. M. NEWS gathered that every attempt by the police to settle the rift failed as Oyebode refused to apologise to Onyeka as advised . Thereafter the police charged Oyebode to court with assault. A Rivers State High Court has sentenced one Inspector Samuel Timothy of the Nigeria Police to death by hanging for shooting and killing a sachet water dealer, Onyekachi Nwasouba. The court’s ruling is coming about five years after Nwasouba was murdered by the police at about 5am on November 10, 2010 at No. 34, Old Aba Road, Port Harcourt. Nwasouba, who was a graduate of Industrial Chemistry, was branded an armed robber by the police while he was on his way to distribute his products to customers within the Port Harcourt metropolis. ADVERTISEMENT The deceased was shot dead by a team of policemen, led by Timothy, at the front of his residence, even after he (Nwasouba) shouted to the hearing of the policemen that he was only a pure water producer and not an armed robber. The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has confirmed the killing of the immediate Caretaker Chairman of Illela Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Bello Gidan-Hamma, his mother, stepmother and two wives in the stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia. The agency also confirmed that the Chief Imam of the Sultan Abubakar III Jumaa’at Mosque, Sokoto, Sheikh Liman Dan-Ata, was among those killed in the stampede. The Media Assistant to the agency, Alhaji Farouk Umar, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday. Students in Osun state-owned tertiary institutions, on Monday, held hostage the deputy governor of the state, Titi Laoye-Tomori, at the State Secretariat, in Osogbo. Before the hostage-taking incident, the students had marched to the secretariat to protest against the prolonged strike by their lecturers. Their lecturers have been on an indefinite strike for over three months ago, over unpaid salaries and other reasons. Majority of the students are from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree; Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke; Colleges of Education in Ila and Ilesa. After they arrived at the main gate of the state secretariat, Punch reports that they barricaded the entry points. A mentally challenged woman gave birth to a bouncing baby boy in Ebutte Metta area of Lagos yesterday, September 16. Linda Ikeji reports that the mad woman was said to have had labor pains on Ayodele street in Ebutte Metta. She cried out in agony, begging people not to leave her to die. This got to some good-spirited Nigerians who helped her deliver her baby on Ayodele street in Ebute Metta around 4am. They however called the Lagos state Emergency number, which came and conveyed the new mum and her baby to Lagos State Island Maternity hospital where she and the bouncing baby boy are doing well. Man’s body found dumped on a road in Ogun State (See Photo) The corpse of a man who resides in Ago Oko area in Abeokuta, Ogun State was seen lying beside a wall of a newly built complex located along the road. The dead man, said to be plastic mender popularly known as ‘Dike-dike’was in his 40s and until his death lived alone in a shanty-like house located at Ago Oko beside the residence of a popular rental man’s house in the area. A PM News correspondent reliably gathered from the people around the area that the man was killed somewhere and brought to where he was dumped. A woman who simply identified as Mama Itoku said the man could have been brought to the area by his killers just to cause problem for the residents. She maintained that the man, though, a drunkard could not have died as a result of the excessive drinking. The state Police Command spokesman DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi promised to investigate the matter.

A member of the six‑man armed robbery gang said to be terrorising Ajangbadi, Shibiri, a Lagos suburb and its environs, has been nabbed by security operatives. The suspect was arrested following a tip‑off by residents, when the gang operated along Imude road, Shibiri. Although five members of the gang escaped, four locally‑made shotguns and cartridges were recovered from the arrested suspect, simply identified as Kabiru. Vanguard gathered that the gang began operation at 9 p.m., robbing residents and shop owners in the area, including one Alhaja Musura Haziz. However, when the gang retired to share loot at an uncompleted building close to Kabiru’s mother’s house, a resident (names withheld) alerted Neighbourhood Watch members who were on routine patrol.
