Agency Report Ramires has signed a new long-term contract with Chelsea which keeps him with the club until the summer of 2019. The midfielder, a key part of Brazil’s side with 52 international appearances to his credit, has established himself as a first-team regular since moving to Stamford Bridge from Benfica. The Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has come down hard on the PDP in Rivers State, saying all those who were responsible for electoral offences during the 2015 governorship election in Rivers State should be jailed. He insisted that it is not enough for the Tribunal to just nullify the elections of Governor Nyesom Wike and his House of Assembly members, but that all culprits should be unmasked and prosecuted. Below are the words of the Human Rights Commission chairman: “In May 2015, the NHRC recommended 117 persons for prosecution over crimes of electoral impunity. “In one week, Nigerian courts have nullified two governorship election results in Akwa Ibom and Rivers states. We must ensure that those responsible go to jail. “Electoral fraud doesn’t just happen; people do it. A 42-yeard-old man, Akate Thomas was on Tuesday arraigned before a Makurdi Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping and impregnating his 12-year-old biological daughter. According to the Prosecuting officer, Cpl. Omaye Ujata, one Francis Omanga reported the case to the police. Ujata told the court that the 42-year-old had sexual intercourse with his two daughters, 12 and 10 years old and one of the girls got impregnated as a result of the “constant forceful sexual intercourse.’’ The prosecutor further disclosed that Thomas threatened to kill the girls whenever they tried to expose him. When the charge was read, the defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr David Agada, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum, who should be a blood relation. Agency Report The FA claimed they had no choice other than to threaten Jose Mourinho with a stadium ban after fining him failed to stop him breaking their rules on media comments. Mourinho was hit with a £50,000 fine and suspended one-match stadium ban after criticising the officials, including referee Robert Madley, after he failed to award Chelsea a penalty in their 3-1 home defeat by Southampton. Mourinho and Chelsea were fuming at his punishment – with the Special One labelling his fine “an absolute disgrace” and angry at the prospect of the stadium ban – and he vowed to appeal.
