The new Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Valentine
Ntomchukwu, has warned officers as well as the rank and file of the
state command, to shun corruption, indiscipline and be committed
to their duty.
He gave this warning while addressing them at the Police officers’
Mess, Ibara Government Reserved Area, Abeokuta, on Monday.
Ntomchukwu said he would not tolerate any act of indiscipline,
incivility, corrupt practices, improper dressing and any other acts
capable of dragging the image of the police force into the mud.
According to him, the command would enforce the code of conduct
for policemen during the elections and would not tolerate acts of
corruption and other vices among the rank and file of the
command.
Ntomchukwu said the forthcoming elections were of utmost
importance to the Federal Government and the Nigeria police.
He said, “Officers must be professional in the discharge of their
duty. I have zero tolerance for corruption. We’ll punish any
misconduct and reward any hardwork by anybody, be him a
constable, be him an NCO, be him an inspector or a senior officer.
We’ll commend that person.
“In furtherance of our mandate as police officers, indiscipline will
not be tolerated; corruption will not be tolerated; indolence and
abuse of office will not be tolerated.
“We should all understand that of utmost importance to the Federal
Government and the police management team is the forthcoming
elections. The code of conduct has been distributed to all and
sundry, all policemen by the Inspector- General of Police and we
must enforce that.”
Talking about the command’s preparedness for the elections, he said
his men had gone through various training and re-training to ensure
