Reigning Africa’s best football player, Yaya Toure of Manchester City, will have a Herculean task attempting to upset his former team mates from FC Barcelona in today’s round of 16 UEFA Champions League game.
Incidentally, for the second year running, Manchester City and FC Barcelona meet in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. This year the English team is hoping for a different outcome than 12 months ago when Barcelona won 4-1.Yaya Toure is also ready to face his former team mates and help Manchester City triumph over the Catalan club.
Speaking at a press conference held on February 23, 2015, the City manager said:
“I think that last year was different, last year we arrived after playing 19 games in two months and it wasn’t our best moment. I hope this year we will do it because we are not playing as many games. We are in a good moment, but we have to recognise we are playing against a strong team.
“It is very important to win, and after that to not concede goals. We must fight for possession of the ball and keep it as long as we can.”
Manchester City looked set to bow out of the Champions League when they got only two points from their first four group games, but victories over Bayern Munich and Roma brought hope to the team and ensured they progressed.
“We never thought we were out of the Champions League. We had the trust to continue to fight until the end. This team will always try to do it.
“We didn’t play well, especially here at home against Roma and CSKA Moscow but our team showed the personality and quality to qualify,” Wily Chilean Pellegrini said.
While all teams and players are training hard for the Champiom League matches, socila media has recently exploded with the news that the Portuguese football star, Christiano Ronaldo, is campaigning for the President Goodluck Jonathan.
