Abuja - Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, has
condemned the recent suicide bombing attack that killed 10 people
at the Damaturu central motor park.
He expressed sadness at the escalating terror and called the people
in the area to collaboration with security agents towards ending
the wave of attacks.
Gaidam expressed regret over the attack and called on the people
of the state to maintain absolute vigilance to eradicate if
insurgency.
“By being vigilant, some of the incidences of the Boko Haram
attacks that is currently bedeviling the northeastern part of the
country will be minimized,” Gaidam said.
The governor has visited victims of the bomb blast currently
receiving treatment at the State Specialist Hospital in Damaturu.
State Commissioner of Health, Dr Mohammed Bello Kawuwa, who
disclosed that 86 victims were brought to the hospital with various
digress of injuries, conducted the visit.
He said said 10 of the victims urgently needed highly specialised
care and were subsequently referred to the Medical Centre in
Nguru. Some were later referred to Kano for more specialised
care.
Kawuwa also said all those brought to the hospital were treated
free in line with the policy of the present administration in the
state.
The governor directed the State Emergency Management Agency
(SEMA) to take inventory of all losses to allow government take
the necessary action towards compensation.
