Meet a bearded-lady from who did not leave her house and was shaving twice a day until she met the love of her life, California, USA.

Annalisa Hackleman’s beard started to grow when she was 13 and after several tests the girl was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal condition. Since then she developed agoraphobia, condotion that made it difficult for her to go outside her home. Annalisa’s mum took her to get laser hair removal but the process was not effective and soon she was engaged in a never-ending battle with her facila hair.

The girl was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome
She said: “I formed agoraphobia and would feel anxiety trying to plan outings or go anywhere. When I did leave the house after much stress, crying and worry I found the anxiety wouldn’t calm down. Thankfully my husband helped me to get out of my haze and demanded something be done as it was ruining our life together.David is super supportive, I don’t think he loves my facial hair, but he loves me and that’s all that matters.”

Now Annalisa is learning to live with her beard and trying to embrace herself. She and David have now been together for eight years and are about to celebrate five years of marriage. Last week brave Harnaam Kau, a bearded woman who endured years of bullying and almost attempted suicide, spoke out about her new-found body confidence.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), is a set of symptoms due to a hormone imbalance in women. Symptoms include: irregular or no menstrual periods, heavy periods, excess body and facial hair, acne, pelvic pain, trouble getting pregnant, and patches of thick, darker, velvety skin.
