A student of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation on Wednesday died on her way to the hospital after collapsing at the institute’s hostel in Lagos. An official of the institute told the News Agency of Nigeria that the woman, simply identified as Tina, died while being taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. The official, who pleaded anonymity, said Tina, until her death, was a staff of Abuja office of the institute. “Tina had been very ill and needed some financial assistance to get medical attention. “The management had granted her permission to go for treatment and had also promised her some financial assistance before she died,” the official said. According to the officer, the deceased, who hailed from the Northern part of the country, had been on medication for an undisclosed ailment. Amnesty International, which stated this in a report on Monday, said the abducted women were forced into sexual slavery and trained to fight. The report was issued on the first anniversary of the abduction of the over 200 Chibok schoolgirls on April 14, 2014. The 90-page report is titled, “Our job is to shoot, slaughter and kill’: Boko Haram’s reign of terror.” According to the AI, the report was based on nearly 200 witness accounts, including 28 with abducted women and girls, who escaped captivity.
