General Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in just-concluded presidential election Professor Yemi Osinbajo has thanked God for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Vice President-elect has appreciated Nigerians for the support they displayed his party.
Osinbajo has assured Nigerians that they would turn the country around for the better: “I am very happy, God has done an awesome thing.
“We already have a manifesto which clearly says that we are determined to change this country and turn its direction around.
“Our promise is to work every single day, determined to make life better for the average Nigerian.”
While he praised the electoral process, he said there was need for upgrading in the system.
“I think it was flexible enough to accommodate a lot of the issues and problems that came up,” VP-elect said. “There is a long way to go in getting the system to work perfectly.”
Osinbajo also commended the current President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat defining it as a display of maturity.
He said: “I think that will set an example which would perhaps provide some kind of guide to others as to what to do in situations such like that.
“I think he provided a good example as to what to do when obviously you find out that you lost an election. The right thing to do is to congratulate the victor and I think the President did the right thing.”
On December 17, 2014, the presidential candidate of the APC, General Buhari announced Prof. Yemi Osibajo as his running mate and vice-presidential candidate during the 2015 general polls.
It should be noted that president-elect, Buhari and his Vice President elect, Osinbajo have received their certificate of return.
